Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Industry Tax Credit

A British Columbia tax credit for eligible employers in the shipbuilding and ship repair industry who employ registered apprentices. Employers can claim 20% of apprentice wages (up to $5,250) during the first 24 months of an apprenticeship program, plus an additional completion credit and enhanced credits for First Nations individuals or persons with disabilities.

What you'll need

  • Proof of apprentice registration with SkilledTradesBC
  • Apprenticeship program enrollment documentation
  • Payroll records showing apprentice wages paid
  • Schedule 430 (T2 return) or Form T1014-2 (T1 return)
  • Documentation of First Nations status or federal disability tax credit eligibility (if claiming enhanced credit)
