The Government of Canada's Student Work Placement Program provides employers with wage subsidies when they hire post-secondary students for paid work placements approved by the student's institution. Employers receive up to 50% of wages to a maximum of $5,000 per student placement to support meaningful work-integrated learning opportunities.
What you'll need
- Business registration or proof of legal entity status
- Proof of financial capacity to pay student wages in full during placement
- Job posting or placement description aligned with student's program
- Proof of WSIB or workplace insurance coverage (where legally required)
- Supporting documentation at end of placement for wage subsidy administration
