Ontario Junior Exploration Program

The Ontario Junior Exploration Program (OJEP) provides targeted funding to support early-stage mineral exploration by junior mining companies and prospectors in Ontario. Eligible junior mining companies can receive up to $200,000 per project (covering 50% of eligible costs) plus an additional $15,000 for Indigenous employment initiatives, while prospectors can receive up to $50,000 per project under similar terms.
What you'll need
- Ontario Business Registry registration
- Proof of funds to cover 100% of total project costs
- Valid certificate of insurance with general commercial liability coverage of at least $2 million per occurrence
- Mining Lands Administration System enrollment confirmation
- Valid exploration plan and/or permit issued under the Mining Act
- Approval from plan/permit and/or tenure holder
