Business Financing Program (BFP)

GrantCanada — federal$1,000 – $250,000

The Business Financing Program provides conditional contributions (grants) to Indigenous businesses in North-Eastern Ontario to establish, expand, or acquire businesses on or off reserve. Funding is available to First Nation, Inuit, and non-status Indigenous applicants, with amounts up to $99,999 for individuals and up to $250,000 for First Nation communities or First Nation-owned businesses. Applicants must provide minimum equity and leverage commercial financing for capital projects.

  • Proof of Indigenous heritage (Indian status card, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami letter, or birth certificate with genealogical link)
  • Business plan or project proposal
  • Evidence of minimum 10% equity contribution
  • Commercial financing commitment letter
  • Financial statements or projections
