This program supports Alberta resident professional artists by purchasing their original artworks for the permanent Alberta Foundation for the Arts (AFA) Art Collection. Acquired works are displayed through AFA's outreach initiatives including exhibition loans, travelling exhibitions, and art placement programs. Artists must be Alberta residents, professional artists with a public exhibition history, and not currently enrolled in formal art training.
What you'll need
- Proof of Alberta residency (one year minimum)
- Documentation of professional artist status (exhibition history, artistic practice records)
- Artwork images and descriptions
- Fair market value documentation and pricing justification
- Designation for Submission form (if applying as ensemble, gallery, or agent)
- Proof of graduation date from formal art training (if applicable)
